Udinese returned from Bologna with a point courtesy of Martin Payero's first-half strike. It was the Argentine's second goal in the Italian top flight – and both have come against the side from Emilia. He broke his Serie A duck in the reverse fixture on 30 December: a vicious volley from the edge of the box to seal a 3-0 win at Dacia Arena. On Sunday he pounced from close range to finish off a move he began by picking Remo Freuler's pocket.

The match lasted 100 minutes, with an effective playing time of 56 minutes (27 in the first half and 29 in the second). Fabio Cannavaro's side kept possession for approximately 20 minutes, or 35% of the game.

Both sides had the same number of shots on target (four), off target (four) and completed crosses (three out of six). Udinese also hit the woodwork once, through Keinan Davis in the 95th minute.

Two Udinese players recovered the ball seven times each – a common statistic for Walace but less so for his team-mate, Lazar Samardzic, who put in a tremendous shift. The Serb ran more than anyone else (almost 13 kilometres) and played the ball 61 times, completing three key passes. Laki also completed more dribbles (five) than anyone else on the pitch.
